Rich put together his band Rich and the Poor Boysin March 2023, having met Denny, Andrew and Jason through the Tasman Bay Blues Club where they performed at the Club's monthly Blues Jam Nights.
Rich played in a number of UK Blues bands before arriving in NZ. He is a founding member of Jukejoint, with whom he continues to play, but was keen to form a smaller, harmonica-led Blues band, playing in the Chicago Blues style of Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Junior Wells, as well as incorporating some original material.
The Poor Boys are all dedicated Blues musicians who have been playing around the Nelson/Tasman region in various bands for many years.
Jason left the Band following the Blues at the PointFestivalin March '24. His replacement, Angai Fakava, a talented musician experienced in multiple music genres, has been with us for the past 18 months but sadly, work and family commitments meant he could no longer commit his time to the Band.
So our latest, breaking news, is that JASON IS BACK! We're delighted he rejoined The Poor Boys, just in time for our gig at The Honest Lawyer on 1st November - it was an absolute blast. Special thanks to our featured guest, Chris Baillie, on trumpet (click the link below to see our latest video featuring a couple of new numbers with Chris).
